Accessibility
There is accessible parking. There is level access at the Burns cottage and museum, although some of the older parts of the site have uneven steps and surfaces. There are accessible toilets in both the museum and the Education Pavilion, which is next to Burns Cottage.
Assistance dogs are welcome throughout the site. There are induction loops throughout the museum, education centre and meeting rooms.
There are accessible openings on the first Tuesday of every month from 3–5pm. In the museum and cottage, the interactive screens and sound effects will be switched off, and cleaning lights will be switched on.

It is a 9 minute drive from the centre of Ayr. Take the B7024 South for 2.4 miles then turn left onto Murdoch's Lone.
