Accessibility:

The Winter Gardens does not have its own car park, the closest car park is Charles Street which is within 200 metres. There is ramped access into the main entrance, and there is also an accessible entrance at the rear of the building which has level access. The Winter Gardens are wheelchair-accessible and motorised scooters are permitted in public areas. The parks and gardens do have footpaths and the majority of these are wide enough for wheelchair and pushchair users. There are some easy to moderate slopes in parts of the gardens. There are public toilets, but no wheelchair-accessible or baby-changing facilities. However there are wheelchair-accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities in the Millennium Galleries.

 

Brief Description:

Sheffield Winter Garden is one of the largest temperate greenhouses to have been in the UK in the last 100 years. It is 70 metres long and 22 metres high. It was built as part of a £120 million regeneration project that also created the Millennium Galleries and Peace Garden. It houses over 2500 plants from all over the world and was officially opened by Queen Elizabeth II in May 2003. From the Winter Gardens access is available to the Millennium Galleries.

Directions:

From Rotherham via Sheffield Parkway. Follow Sheffield Parkway to Commercial Street in Sheffield. At Park Square Roundabout take the 4th exit onto Commercial Street. Continue onto High Street. Turn slightly left into Arundel Gate. Turn right onto Norfolk Street. Turn left onto Surrey Street.

 

From Chesterfield via A61. Head south on Spa Lane towards Hollis Lane/A632. Turn right onto Hollis Lane/A632. At the roundabout take the 4th exit and stay on Hollis Lane/A632. Merge onto Rother Way/A61 via the slip road to Sheffield/Sheepbridge/A619/Chesterfield. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A61. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit and stay on A61 for 5 miles. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Meadowhead/A61 and follow for 2.9 miles. Continue straight onto London Road/B6388. Slight right into Asline Road. Use the right lane to turn slightly left onto Bramall Lane/A621. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Eyre Street. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Arundel Gate. Turn left onto Norfolk Street. Turn left onto Surrey Street.
