Accessibility

Limited on-street parking. 

The Village Hall has parking available, a one-minute walk away.

A pavement leads to the church's double gates, and from here a path continues to the porch entrance.

The grounds and graves are unpaved.

From the porch, the church's interior is reached via a step.

The Nave is accessed via a step. 

The central aisle leads to the Chancel and altar and is accessed by several steps.

A Hearing (Induction) Loop system operates.

Brief description

"St Augustine's Church is a Grade II* listed building with parts dating as early as the 13th Century.

"The West Tower is 'perpendicular in style' (English Gothic architecture - Wikipedia) and dates from c1450s. The 'Faceless Clock' by James Seymour, dates from 1525.' 'It chimes and strikes every three hours and plays 'Angels' Hymn by Orlando Gibbons.' A guide "James Seymour's Ancient Faceless Church Clock, East Hendred' is available from the church shop." The Nave and side aisles date from the 13th century with round pillars and carved stone heads dating from this period

The Chancel Screen, Altar table, reredos, piscina (bowl) and sedilia (seat) date from the 19th century.

The South Chapel also known as 'The Eyston Chapel' dates from the early 15th century.

A fine example of a stained-glass window and armorials can be seen, some containing Medieval glass can be seen.
