2026:
"The current St Chad's is the first church on a site that has been used for Christian Worship since the ninth century. The building was built by farmers under the patronage of the Earl of Sefton who funded the installation of windows by William Morris. There is a fine ceramic reredos by Henry Holliday. The font dates from the tenth century and is made in local sandstone.
Kirkby is an outer estate town on the edge of Liverpool with high levels of multiple debrivation. St Chad's is one of four churches in the Kirkby Team Ministry and along with its sister churches it aims to contribute towards the spiritual regeneration of the town including people's sense of civic pride and community cohesion.
The Church welcomes all comers and tries to cater for all special needs that visitors and worshippers may have.
This is a beautiful and popular venue for weddings. Clergy from all churches in the Kirkby Team play a full part in this ministry. It is also the first choice for many local people arranging baptisms and funerals. A great deal of care is put into helping people negotiate the personal and spiritual challenges that these life events present."
