The church of St Mary stands beside the river, at the west end of the Great Shefford village.

Every Sunday the church offers it's weekly service with some variation.
Every First Sunday at 10 a.m. for 1hr there is Together at Ten a cafe church service aimed at adults more interested in the community of the church.
Every Second Sunday at 9:30 a.m. for 1hr there is the regular holy communion.
Every Third Sunday at 10 a.m. for 1hr there is the cafe church where the church serves breakfast followed by informal lay led worship.
Every Fourth Sunday at 9:30 a.m. there is another holy communion.

There is a village shop, The Swan Inn and even a vehicle filling station all within walking distance of the church if anything is required. The church also offers cafe food every first and third Sunday, it also has toilets available.
