Accessibility:

No dedicated car park for the museum, although a car park is available about 200m away. Entrance to the building is level. Lift access to all floors. Accessible toilets on each floor.

Induction loop available for those using hearing aids.

Assistance dogs welcome, with a water bowl provided on request. Braille is present on many of the signs and lift buttons.


Brief Description:

Sunderland Museum and Winter Gardens showcases the history of the area, with examples being pottery crafting, coal mining and even some stuffed animals. The Winter Gardens section has over 2,000 plants within a 30-metre dome.

The library is now located at the Museum and Winter Gardens. The library gives you access to thousands of books, free internet access, CD's and DVD's to borrow.

From the A1018, go west at the roundabout into Borough Road. Continue along the road for about 0.2 miles, and the Museum should be directly to your left (south).
