"There are three sets of toilets located within the Civic building: Male and female toilets in the foyer on the ground floor. Male and female toilets at the top of the stair foyer, just outside the entrance to the museum. Male, female, and disabled/baby changing facilities within the museum. Mobility Scooters & Pushchairs Please ask our Visitor team if you need to store your scooter or pushchair during your visit, please be aware our storage space is limited.

The nearest car park to Museum and Art Swindon is the Princes Street car park. This short-stay car park is well-lit and has a flat surface. Main Entrance, Reception, and Shop: The main entrance to the Museum is via the front door of the Civic Offices, reached by a flight of eight stone steps or via a ramp on the left of the entrance. The ramp has handrails on one side. The museum galleries are accessible via flights of stairs and a lift.

All staircases have at least one handrail. At reception our Visitor Team will greet you. They are all trained to be aware of a range of access requirements. If you need extra help during your visit, please let them know. The shop sells a range of items, including souvenirs, stationery, pocket money toys, and postcards, as well as books and information about Swindon history.

The Museum:  All galleries have text panels or laminated handlists providing information about the exhibits on display. The museum does not have an audio guide. Assistance Animals Assistance animals are welcome in the museum. Please ask a member of staff for a water bowl if needed."

Quieter Times: We understand that some visitors may find the museum easier to explore when it is quieter. Please contact the museum, and we can advise you of quieter times to visit and steps we can take to make your visit more comfortable."

2025: "Museum and Art Swindon houses an important collection of modern British art, studio ceramics, local archaeology, and social history related to the town and people of Swindon.

We want all our visitors to feel inspired and engaged by their visit and to learn more about art, heritage, and culture. Museum and Art Swindon is located in Swindon Civic Offices, a Grade II Listed building constructed between 1937 and 1939, designed in a Moderne style by Bertram, Bertram, and Rice of Oxford."

A museum and art gallery with an impressive collection of 20th century art, and an educational museum exhibiting items of local history, archaeology and geography. Our photographs show the displays at Swindon Museum and Art Gallery, Bath Road, Swindon SN1 4BA before they moved to the first floor of Swindon's Civic offices.

Opening Hours:


Entry to Museum & Art Swindon is free and there’s no need to book unless you’re planning a group visit for 10 or more people, just turn up on the day. Entry is free – but donations are always welcome!

2025 Opening times:

Tuesday to Saturday 10:30am to 4:30pm

Monday and Sunday Closed.

Learning and group visits may be accepted on Mondays, so please contact our friendly team to enquire.

2025: 
Museum and Art Swindon (MAS) is located in Swindon town centre. You’ll find the entrance to it within the council’s splendid 1930s Art Deco civic building on Euclid Street. If you’re using Google maps or Sat-Nav the postcode is SN1 2JH.

There are steps and a ramp at the entrance to the building. MAS is located on the first floor and is accessed either by stairs or a lift.

Museum and Art Swindon is approximately 15 to 20 minutes-walk (depending on your pace) from Swindon railway station or bus station. If you’re approaching from Regent Circus, with the central library to your right and just behind you, there are two Pelican crossings to navigate to Euclid Street and then you’ll see the Civic Offices on your left.

Unfortunately, with the exception of assistance dogs of course, dogs aren’t allowed into the museum.

We have a limited number of parking spaces for blue badge holders.

By car:

There is no parking at Museum & Art Swindon, the nearest car park is Princes Street. There are a limited number of spaces available for Blue Badge holders.

There is also parking at Spring Gardens  on a pay and display basis.
