Accessibility:

The chapel is situated on a main road, there is parking for one car immediately outside the chapel gate and also disability parking opposite the chapel on the main road. Through a large open gateway there is a wide paved pathway leading up to the chapel. A narrower gravelled path circles the perimeter of the chapel. There are large lawn grounds at the chapel which can be explored, there are some stone steps throughout.

There are two steps into the entrance porch of the chapel and a further step to enter the main building. There is low lighting upon entering the chapel as guests are requested to turn the lights off when leaving.

Once inside there are wide walkways, however the pews are on a slightly raised platform. There is a step up to the altar area. No ramps are available for wheelchair access. Toilets are available on site.

Brief Description:

The current chapel was built in 1849, however the site is thought to date back to the 1500s, with the earliest mention of the chapel is 1557. The chapel is built using granite and marble and hosts impressive stained glass windows throughout. Tourist information and memorabilia are available to purchase. This chapel is steeped in history.

Directions:

Situated 9 miles North west of Douglas. Exit Douglas on Peel Rd/A2 for 1.1 miles; take the A1 until you reach St Johns, which is 3 miles south-east of Peel.
