Brief description:

Anne Hathaway (wife of William Shakespeare) was born in the family cottage in 1556. The wattle and daub cottage was originally built in 1463 with the kitchen and parlour dating from this time.  The cottage was extended in 1624, when the upper floor and chimneys were added. Traditional cottage garden in 9 acres of grounds, with a Lavender maze and Woodland walk with a Sculpture Trail. The cottage was purchased by the Shakespeare Trust in 1892.

From Tourist Information Centre, Stratford-upon-Avon - follow sign posts for Shottery and Cottage Lane.  Approximately 1.6 miles.  Brown tourist directional road signs points the way.  SP 184547

Summer - Open daily; Winter open 5 Nov - 31 March 10.00 - 4.00 (last admission 3.30 pm)

Charges apply: Adult - £12.50; Child - £8.00; Concession - £11.50
