Accessibility:

There is a small parking area to the left of the site however there is no pavement or pathway leading up the entrance, only a tarmac road. Both entrances consist of 3 large stone steps followed by a slightly uneven paving stoned pathway which leads up to to the main entrance.

There's a fairly large latched door at the main entrance to the building where the ground flattens slightly and then another small 3cm step going into the building. Once you're inside the ground is flat other than a small labelled ledge by the altar.

Brief Description:

The Old Church of St Mary is one of the few church's situated in Ballaugh. There is a small display of Stone carved crosses situated in the building dating back between the 7th - 11th Century which came from our Viking ancestors & represent the Early Christian Heritage. Although little is known of this church before the 18th Century, the earliest known Rector was Donald McCorkyll, dating back to 1408.
