Accessibility:

The centre of Coventry is very accessible for wheelchairs and people with mobility problems. It is highly pedestrianised with a network of one-way systems for traffic. Coventry city has a Shopmobility service which is located on the ground floor of Barracks car park, directly behind the Upper Precinct (CV1 1DD). The car park itself has disability parking spaces, which are located close to the shopmobility centre. Powered and un-powered wheelchairs and scooters can be hired free of charge from the Shopmobility office. It is recommended that these are booked in advance over the telephone on 024 7683 2020 (Mon-Sat: 8.45am-4.30pm). Brief Description:

Coventry dates back to Roman times and has played important roles in the English Civil War, Industrial Revolution, bicycle and car industries, WWII and post war architecture following the blitz and pre-war clearance. Directions:

For Coventry city centre:

- from the north-west, take M6 J3 and head south on the A444. At the last large roundabout take the third exit onto Sky Blue Way onto the ring road. 

- from the north-east, take M69 southbound. Depending on where you need to get to in Coventry you either take the A4600 (follow lane and gantry signs) or the A46 towards Warwick.

- from the south-west, take M5 north to J4a / M42 east and at M42 J6 take the A45 towards Coventry for around 6 miles and follow the signs towards ‘Coventry A4114’.

- from the south-east, Take either the M1 J17 turnoff for the M45 for the south of the city or M1 J19 for the M6 and the north of the city.

Your destination within Coventry city centre will dictate which exit you take off the ring road.

Transport:

The centre of Coventry is largely pedestrianised and travelling by car can be a problem. However, there is an excellent pubic transport system, which you can find further details of here: http://www.coventry.gov.uk/publictransport

There is a Park & Ride scheme based in the War Memorial Park (Kenilworth Road, CV3 6PT) and operates seven days a week to and from the city centre. There is free parking for 400 vehicles and the bus services run every 10-15 minutes – there is a charge for the bus service.

Coventry’s main railway station is located on the south side of the city centre with bus stops and taxi ranks just outside. The city is located on the West Coast Main Line which runs from London Euston through Coventry to Birmingham New Street.
