Accessibility:

There is parking on the street outside the forge. There is one step at the entrance and limited space inside, so it is not wheelchair accessible. However there is a lot that can be seen from the doorway if you would still like to look inside. There are no toilets on site.

Brief Description:

Hoylandswaine Nail Forge is owned by the South Yorkshire Industrial History Society. It is a 19th Century Grade II Listed Building. It was the last working nail forge in the village and still produced nails in the 1940s. It is the only nail forge in Britain with its original hearth and chimney, the bellows and nailmakers block are also still there.  During open days volunteers will explain how the forge worked and also the impact it had on village life.
