Accessibility:

There is a car park adjacent to The Paramount and also parking on the surrounding streets. The main entrance is stepped, there is a ramped entrance at the side of the building for wheelchair users. There is a flight of steps leading to the circle and due to the age and layout of the building there is no lift available. However, there is level access into the stalls and four positions for wheelchairs. There are toilets available including wheelchair accessible. There are no baby changing facilities. There is a hearing induction loop and assistance dogs are welcome.


Brief Description:

The Paramount Cinema was built in 1914. It is a single screen cinema which seats 350 people. Behind the cinema screen is a large stage enabling it to also hosts live theatre and music events. It is home to the Compton Organ which was built in 1937 by the John Compton Organ Company in London. The Penistone Cinema Organ Trust purchased the organ in 2000, restored it and then placed it in the Paramount.

From Barnsley via Barnsley Road/A628 (7.5m). Take Eldon Street and Market Hill to Shambles Street. Follow A28 to Bridge Street/B6462 in Penistone. Drive to Shrewsbury Road/B6462.


From Glossop via B6105 and A628 (17.2m). Head east on High Street West/Norfolk Square/A57 towards Norfolk Street/B6105. Turn left onto Norfolk Street/Norfolk Square/B6105 and continue for 5.3 miles. Slight right onto A628. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on A628. Slight right onto Bridge Street/B6462. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto St Mary’s Street/B6462. Turn left onto Shrewsbury Road.B6462.
