Access: The church is accessed via a gateway, uneven paving and a slight step lead to the entrance door. The church interior has a flagstone floor. The Jacobean pulpit, Altar, box pews and gallery can all be viewed from ground level. Access to the upper Gallery area is by staircase only.

Brief description:
St James' Church, is a Grade II listed building and was founded in the 14th Century by Robert de Barnby as part of the Barnby Hall estate. It has a fine example of a Jacobean font and, following restoration in the early 18th century by Godfrey Bosville, a minstrel gallery, box pews and a bell cupola were added. St James' Church is in the Diocese of Wakefield.
