Accessibility:

There are several car parks within 0.5 miles of the venue, the closest being Piccadilly 0.2 miles. There are eight steps up to the main entrance, with a ramped accessible entrance to the left of the main entrance. Inside is wheelchair-accessible and there is a lift which serves the Ground and First floors. There are toilets including disability toilets which are wheelchair-accessible and also feature baby-changing facilities. There is no hearing assistance system in place. Assistance dogs are welcome.


Brief Description:

Built in 1357 Merchant Adventurers Hall is a medieval guildhall in the centre of York. It features The Great Hall which was where merchants gathered for business and to hold feasts, The Undercroft which was once a hospital and almshouse, and The Chapel which was built in the 15th Century. Inside are collections of medieval artefacts, two collections of silver and also a collection of art. The venue is available for hire for corporate events, weddings and celebrations. The Merchants’ Coffee House is open daily for light snacks and refreshments.

From Fulford via A19. Head north on Fulfordgate towards Heslington Lane. Take A19 and Fishergate/A1036 to Piccadilly in York. Turn left onto Piccadilly. Turn right onto Merchantgate. Turn left onto Fossgate and your destination will be on the left.


From Rawcliffe via A19. Head south on A19 towards York. Take Water End, A59 and A1036 to Piccadilly in York. Turn left onto Piccadilly. Turn right onto Merchantgate. Turn left onto Fossgate and your destination will be on the left.
