Accessibility:

Not all but the majority of the High Street is pedestrianised.  There is one short section of road length (by Marks & Spencer) with light vehicular traffic where kerbs and side pavements exist.  Where roads cross the pedestrianised sections there is level access on both sides and such areas have traffic light controlled pelican crossings.

Overall there is good level access for the entire length of the High Street,  The paving finishes vary from concrete paving, to brick paviours, granite setts and tarmac road section with kerbs.  Generally it is easy for wheelchairs, prams and pushchairs to travel up and down the High Street.

Most shops have good access but there are some issues to contend with as some narrower shop entrances do exist and passenger and stair lifts were seen to be out of action and needing repair (July 2019), in one case making access to the first floor of the shop to be impossible if unable to use stairs.
