Accessibility:

Directly outside the church are double yellow lines, but further down the road is on-street parking. Small gated entrance, with a slight slope up to the main doors. Ramp and handrail situated to the rear of the building, accessed via private drive to the left of the church.


Brief Description:

St Mary's church was built in 1826, and is the oldest Catholic church on the Isle of man. It has undergone many renovations over the years, including a new roof in 1889. It is a simple rectangular building with two stained glass windows, which were donated to the church in 1924.

Situated 1/3 mile NE of the centre of Castletown, and 400 yards SE of its steam railway station, and 1.8 miles SE of Balladoole. Head East on A5. At first roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Victoria Road/ A5. At 2nd roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Bowling Green Road. The church will be 150 yards on your left hand side. OS SC269678 .
