Please note Church Street is narrow in places. 

A sloping gravel path leads from the double gates to the porch entrance.

The church's interior is reached via several stone steps.

The central aisle leads to the Chancel and altar and is accessed by several steps.

The grounds and graves are unpaved.


Brief description

"St Faith's Church is a Grade I listed building dating from the early 1100s, with the church spire dating from 1625.

The Norman porch dates from the 12th century and has a fine display of carved stone chevrons.  Inside the porch, a workman's signature who was employed on the remodelling of the porch - "John John 1677" can be seen.

The East Window (Chancel), The South Window, sedilian (seat) and the piscina (bowl) date from the 14th-15th Century.

The carved stone octagonal Font dates from the 15th century and has a Jacobean wooden hood. (1605-1625)

There are fine examples of stained-glass windows and armorials throughout the church dating from the 13th-14th century.

There are several monuments within the Nave, one being that of Sir Edward Hannes (1710) who was a physician to Queen Anne (reigned 1702-1714).

Close to the Church entrance is row of Tudor Cottages called 'Timber Yard' which are Grade II Listed buildings dating from the 1560s-1570s.
