Accessibility:

The closest Blue Badge parking spaces to the buildings are outside the Old County Hall (Slug and Lettuce public house) building on Cuckoo Lane a few metres/yards to the west of the Bayley Lane buildings.

There is no public access to the interior of the buildings. The front of the buildings are on Bayley Lane which is an ancient cobbled thoroughfare with pavements on either side. As such the road itself can be rather uneven. The pavements also contain cobbles at some points and can be quite narrow. There is a dropped-kerb between the path leading to the west end of the Old Cathedral Ruins and the 22-23 Bayley Lane buildings.

The rear of the buildings is an enclosed courtyard adjoining the side of St Mary’s Guildhall and the back of the shops on Hay Lane. It is generally flat and well paved.

There are no public toilets on site, the closest are at the Pool Meadow bus station (SP335792).

Coventry city has a Shopmobility service which is located on the ground floor of Barracks car park, directly behind the Upper Precinct (CV1 1DD). The car park itself has disability parking spaces, which are located close to the shopmobility centre. Powered and un-powered wheelchairs and scooters can be hired free of charge from the Shopmobility office. It is recommended that these are booked in advance over the telephone on 024 7683 2020 (Mon-Sat: 8.45am-4.30pm). Further information can be requested found here: http://www.coventry.gov.uk/info/77/getting_out_and_about/1075/mobility_pathways_shopmobility.

Brief Description:

22 Bayley Lane is an early 16th century timber-framed cottage with a 19th century shop window and is the last remaining example of such in the Cathedral Quarter area. 23 Bayley Lane is an example of a late 18th century frontage on a considerably older building. The buildings are collectively known as Bayley House and are currently used as serviced office space.

Travelling by car around Coventry city centre can be complicated so walking or public transport is often the easiest option.

To reach the Blue Badge parking spaces outside the Old County Hall (Slug and Lettuce public house) building on Cuckoo Lane leave the ring road (A4053) at Junction 5 and head into the city centre on New Union Street. At the mini roundabout take the second exit onto the B4544 and head north towards the council buildings. Follow the road round to the right and take a left turn onto Bayley Lane just before the road narrows (you can see the Herbert Museum building on the opposite corner). Follow the cobbled road round to the left keeping the Old Cathedral ruins to your right.  When you get to the crossroads the Old County Hall (Slug and Lettuce) will be opposite you to the right with the parking spaces marked on the road outside it.
