Accessibility:

Designated cycle paths are generally flat underfoot, however at times they may cross undulating ground. This path consists of on- and off-road cycling. The terrain underfoot may not always be level or flat.



Brief Description:

Bede’s Cycle Way is a route devised to link two Anglo-Saxon Monastaries, St Peter's in Wearmouth and St Paul's in Jarrow. The route consists of on- and off- road cycling. It goes through 13 miles of north-east landscape, including the Great North Forest. This is the route which would have been taken by seventh- century pilgrims.

Directions:

Situated 0.8 miles S of Roker. Head S on Rokerbaths Road. Turn left onto Bradling Street and left again onto Givens Street. At the end of the road turn right onto A183/Harbour View. At the roundabout take 2nd exit and continue on A183. Turn left onto St Peter's Way and this will lead you to the start of the path from St Peter's Church. OS NZ402578.
