Brief Description:

Kilnwick Percy Hall is a Grade II Listed Building which is steeped in history. Building began in 1574 but it wasn’t completed until 1720. Then in 1796 the present hall was built in front of the original Tudor house, taking 10 years to complete. Kilnwick Percy House was taken over by the army in the Second World War for training and mail sorting. After the war it became a private residence. Over 30 years ago it was bought by the Madhyamaka Buddhist Centre and is now described as a place of peace and tranquillity. Within the grounds are a man-made lake and St Helens Church (not open to the public). Also within the grounds are a gift shop, The World Peace café and The Wolds Retreat bed-and-breakfast accommodation. Guided tours of the house are available for a small fee at selected dates throughout the year.
