Brief Description:

Pocklington is a small market town in the East Riding of Yorkshire at the foot of the Yorkshire Wolds. It is thought to have originated in the Bronze Age and developed through the Middle Ages. During the Second World War there was a Royal Air Force Station in Pocklington which is now closed. The town council has a policy whereby it uses the surnames of the war dead who served at RAF Pocklington to name new streets. The town’s motto is Service with Freedom.

Directions:

From York via A1079. Follow A1036 to A1237. At Hopgrove Roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A64. Take the A1079/A166 exit towards York/Hull/Bridlington. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Hull Road/A1079 and continue to follow for 9.4 miles. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Hodsow Lane. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on Hodsow Lane. Continue onto West Green. At the roundabout continue straight onto Railway Street/B1246. Railway Street/B1246 turns right and becomes Regent Street.


From Beverley via A1079. Head north-east on Newbegin towards Lairgate/A164. Turn left onto Lairgate/A164. Turn left onto York Road/A1174. At Killingwoldgraves Roundabout take the 3rd exit onto A1079. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on A1079. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Giant Bradley Way/A1079. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto York road/A1079 and follow for 4 miles. Turn right onto The Balk/B1247. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Railway Street/B1246. Railway Street turns right and becomes Regent Street
