There is a pay-and-display car park next to the church. There is level access into the church and it is fully wheelchair-accessible throughout. There are public toilets including wheelchair-accessible facilities. A hearing induction loop system is in place.


Brief Description:

St George’s Catholic Church was built in 1850. It was built due to the large amount of Irish Catholics to immigrate to the area due to the potato famine in Ireland. It is a 250 feet walk away from Fishergate bar, one of five medieval gateways into the city of York. The English Highwayman Dick Turpin’s Grave in the graveyard opposite the church.
