St John's is a traditional village church which was built in the 1920's and is surrounded by a well maintained graveyard. It lies within the North York Moors National Park.

Open daily during daylight hours. Church services every 2nd and 4th Sunday of the month at 10.30am.

From Whitby via A171 (13.3m). Take Church Street and Spital Bridge to Helredale Road/A171. Turn left onto Helredale Road.A171. Continue on A171 for 10.4 miles. Take Gainforth Wath Road to Rudda Road and follow for 2.1 miles until you reach your destination.
From Scarborough via A165 (7.9m). Head northwest on St Thomas Street toward North Street. Take A165 and A171 to Hodgson Hill and follow for 7.7 miles until you reach your destination.
