Accessibility:

Maughold Church is best travelled to by car, there is free roadside parking just outside of the main gates. The large main gate is sometimes locked however there is access via one of two smaller metal gates, one of which has two concrete steps leading up to it. There is a wide concrete driveway up to the main entrance of the church and smaller concrete and gravel paths around the graveyard, however these are uneven in places.

When entering the church the floor is level and goes straight in to the main building which has a level tiled floor throughout. There is a wide aisle for easy access to the alter area and a seating area in the back of the church for individuals who may have difficulty accessing the pews. There are two marble steps that lead up to the altar area.

Brief Description:

Situated approximately 17 miles North East of Douglas, Maughold Church is nestled in coastal countryside. It was founded in 450 A.D and construction can be dated back to the late 12th century. Steeped in historical interest and artefacts the parish church is thought to have started life as a monastic keeill. Within both the graveyard and inside the church remains a collection of large carved stone Viking and Celtic crosses.
