Accessibility:

Due to the location and nature of this area, it is not easily accessible to wheelchair users or those with mobility difficulties. No clear pathways laid, natural untouched ground under foot, rugged mountain landscape, unlevel under foot.


Brief Description:

Snaefell  (Meaning Snow mountain) is the only mountain in the Isle of man. It is 621 meters above sea level and has its own railway running from Laxey village to the summit. The railway was built in 1895, and still operates with most of it's original Victorian stock. Snaefell is the only place in the British Isles where you can see England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales from one viewing point.

Directions:


Situated 7.6 miles NW of Laxey. Head SW on Ballacollister Road/Creg Ny Baa Back Road. Turn right onto A18 and continue until reaching your destination, which will be on your left hand side. OS SC398881 .


Transport:

The Manx electric railway runs from Laxey Village to the summit, however this is seasonal and closed during winter months/ adverse weather conditions.
