Wheelchair access is available to the Museum and to Museum Railway Station, however care should be taken on the platform and near the platform edge ( which is marked). Some floor surfaces inside the museum are uneven. There is step-access only to Heritage train carriages from the platform. All areas of the Museum's indoor Exhibition Area can be viewed from ground level. Inside the Museum, lighting is a mixture of natural light and overhead electrical lighting.

Brief Description
Mangapps is a popular local Heritage Railway and Museum, privately owned and operated, assisted by volunteers. In 2019, Mangapps celebrated its 30th Anniversary. Attractions to see include steam and diesel heritage trains, and an indoor museum including railway memorabilia, a large collection of heritage passenger and goods rolling stock, a historic signal box and artefacts.
Train rides in heritage trains are available on Mangapps own private standard gauge railway line which is three quarters of a mile long between Mangapps Station and Old Heath Station. Passengers can either return to Mangapps on the train or alternatively take the journey back via the lineside path. There are also a number of public footpaths from Old Heath Station for visitors wishing to explore the area further.
Mangapps holds special and seasonal events, including special steam and diesel-themed days and including Santa Claus at Christmas.

Mangapps Railway and Museum is 1.5 miles north of Burnham and 1.75 miles south of Southminster, off the B1021 - Southminster Road.
From Chelmsford: If travelling from Chelmsford (approximately 20 miles), Take either: A414 then B1010 to Burnham-on-Crouch, or alternatively take the: A1114, A130, Burnham Rd/A132, B1012 and B1010 to Burnham-on-Crouch. .
On the approach to Burnham-on-Crouch on B1010 , at junction with B1021, take left turn onto B1021 towards Southminster. In approximately 1 mile, the entrance to Mangapps Museum is marked by a brown tourist sign on the west side of the B1021 Southminster Road.

Trains run on each advertised open day. The first departure from Mangapps Station is at 12.15 (13.15 in December),then every hour until 16.15 (more frequently on busy days.) Journey time to Old Heath is 10 minutes. Passengers may also join trains at Old Heath, accessing the station via the adjacent public footpath. Valid tickets, which may be obtained by telephone (01621 784898), are required by passengers boarding at Old Heath.

By Rail - Nearest Railway Station: Burnham-on-Crouch Station, Station Road, Burnham-on-Crouch, Essex, CM0 8BQ; the Station operated by Greater Anglia Trains is the penultimate stop on the Crouch Valley line from London Liverpool Street Station. Approx. 50 minutes journey from London Liverpool Street Station. The Station is centrally located in Burnham-on-Crouch town centre close to all local amenities. The Station is manned part-time only. Level access available to the station which has a single platform. Refreshments kiosk. No toilet facilities available. There is a Hearing Loop to the Help Point on the Station.

Bus Route 31 operated by First Essex Buses to/from Chelmsford/ Burnham-on-Crouch calls on Southminster Road near Mangapps Railway and Museum - nearest bus stop to Mangapps Railway and Museum is on Southminster Road opposite Burnham-on-Crouch Cemetery (approximately (0.4 miles/ 9 minutes' walk). Bus Route FC03 operated by Fords Coaches to/from Burnham-on-Crouch/Southminster, also operates between these two bus stops along on this route.
From Burnham-on-Crouch town centre, alight bus service 31 or bus service FC03 from bus stop outside Burnham-on-Crouch Library towards Chelmsford on Southminster Road opposite Burnham-on-Crouch Cemetery.
