Sappers Suspension Bridge, Betws-y-Coed, Conwy, Wales. Open daily. Free entry.
Details
Accessibility:
There is on-street parking on the approach to the path down to the bridge on Old Church Road and opposite the Old St Michael's Church. The path down to the bridge starts near to the south entrance to Old St Michael's Church and is partially blocked by a fencing system designed to stop push bikes from easily getting onto the bridge - this may also cause problems for wheelchair users. The path down is metalled, but it is not as well maintained as the other paths in the town. There is a hand rail to one side of the path and then rails along both sides of the bridge itself. The bridge is sloped at either end.
Brief Description:
The Sappers Suspension Bridge crosses the Conwy River near the Old St. Michael’s Church. It was constructed in 1930 and replaced an earlier bridge from 1917 that, in turn, offered an alternative to the stepping stones near the golf course.
