Accessibility:

Disability parking is available and there is wheelchair access across station platforms and trains. On board the trains, reserved spaces are available for wheelchair users. This does not include the dining cars. There is a maximum wheel chair width of 70 cm on all carriages. Large mobility scooters have no access to board the trains.

Brief Description:

The railway runs along 11 kilometres of track built in 1872 for the former Great Western Railway. Heritage steam trains offer return trips that include stop-offs at local attractions, such as the Butterfly Farm and Otter Sanctuary.

Return fares: £15.00 for adults, £9.00 for children, £14.00 for senior citizens. Family tickets (two adults and two children) are £43.00.

Directions:

Travelling south on the Devon Expressway, take the exit for Lower Dean. At the junction, turn north onto Plymouth Road B3380. At the junction of Timbers Road continue north merging with Strode Road. After passing the petrol station on the north side of the road, take the next turn south east sign posted for the South Devon Railway. Follow the road under the bridge and into the station.

On some trains a dining car is available, serving a full menu of meals, wines and refreshments. Booking for this service is required. The station Refreshment Rooms provide snacks, cream teas, full meals and a Sunday roast.
