Accessibility:

"There is disabled blue badge parking for one vehicle directly on the road outside the museum with limited parking for one hour. The side entrance door has a 4” step, a ramp is available. Inside the building there is no lift and stairs are the only access to the upper floor. The upstairs toilet has no disability features. A virtual reality tour has been created for visitors who are unable to access all parts of the museum."

Brief Description:
"The Valiant Soldier was an active pub in Buckfastleigh which closed in the late 1960′s and never re-opened. Everything was literally left as it was and today, it’s open as a museum, giving visitors a glimpse into the past.  Many of the furnishings, fixtures and fittings remain with some dating back to the 1940’s and 1950’s."

Directions:


Take the exit off the A38 towards Lower Dean. Travel north on the Plymouth Road B3380. On reaching the junction of Plymouth Road and Strode Road take the road north west continuing along Plymouth Road towards Buckfastleigh town centre. As the road merges onto Fore Street the museum is on the north side.

OS SX740661 "Take the exit off the A38 Devon Expressway towards the Town Centre.  Look out for the brown signs. The Valiant Soldier is easy to find at the bottom of Buckfastleigh’s main street. We are 10 minutes walk from South Devon Railway."
