Accessibility:

Parking outside of the church is limited due to its close location to the road. There are a few small lanes off of the main road, which may be quieter to park along. The pathways within the church grounds are laid with gravel. There is an archway at the main doors which is laid with stone floor and a cork mat as you enter. Internal flooring of the church is a mixture of tiles and flag stone. There are small steps within the church to various different areas, such as a children's corner and the alter area. There is also an accessible toilet and baby changing area. Hearing induction loop.

Brief Description:

St John the Evangelist church is the oldest building in Tolpuddle. Dating back to the 12th century, the church is believed to sit on the site of a older previous unknown church. The bell mountings inside the church are the original mountings, alongside a carved stone effigy which is also 12th century.

Directions:

Situated 7.6 miles NE of Dorchester via London Road taking the first exit off of the round about onto the A35 North. After 0.2 miles take the exit sign posted Tolpuddle/Puddletown/Troy Town, continuing straight over at the coming round about. Keep following this road through Puddletown which becomes Athelhampton Road and will lead you to Tolpuddle. St Johns is located on your right hand side just as you come into the village.
