Brief Description

2025:
"At the Hull and East Riding Museum, you can journey through 235 million years of history. From a face-to-face encounter with a woolly mammoth to appreciating the beauty of the stunning mosaics within a Roman bathhouse, the museum displays show what it would have been like to live in the region throughout time.
This free to enter museum offers some of the UK’s most fascinating displays of archaeology and natural history, including the only dinosaur bones to have been discovered within East Yorkshire. These prehistoric finds, which were originally collected by one of the most important amateur archaeologists of the nineteenth century, also include stone tools used by some of the earliest human settlers.
The Hull & East Riding museum also explores the Bronze Age, Iron Age, Roman Britain, Saxons and Vikings as well as Medieval and Early Modern Hull. Taking in a spectacular display of pottery, part of a full-size reconstruction of an Iron Age settlement, the recreation of a local Roman settlement, an exceptional Viking sword and a selection of medieval stone carvings, there’s plenty to be unearthed.
Located within the city’s Museums Quarter, the Hull & East Riding Museum is within a stone's throw of both Wilberforce House and the Streetlife Museum of Transport, both of which are also free to enter."
