Accessibility:
There is a free car park at the gardens, next to the cable car station at Monte, however, there is a steep uphill walk to the garden entrance. The gardens themselves are sometimes steep and the paths are uneven - it is not wheelchair friendly. There are toilet facilities on site.
Brief Description:
The Jardim Tropical and Monte Palace is 70,000 square metres of walks through exotic plants and exhibition space located in the tropical gardens that were once part of the estate of the English Consul Charles Murray in the 18th century.

Directions:
The tropical gardens are in Monte, just off the ER103. However, the most convenient way to reach the gardens considering the parking in the area may be via the cable car from Funchal.

The cable car runs from the sea front and there are package prices for the cable car return journey and gardens entrance.
