Parking, including disability parking, is available. The cost of parking is covered by the charge for bringing your vehicle into the Castlewellan Forest Park site.
Dogs are allowed but must kept on a lead while in Annesley Garden and Arboretum. Outside the gardens, they must be kept under control by their owners in the Forest Park to ensure they do not distress other visitors or wildlife.
The surfaces of paths within the gardens will vary depending on weather conditions; they may be particularly muddy and uneven during periods of wetter weather. There are steps at various points which are shown on a map, which is located inside the walls of the garden near the entrance.

Walled gardens, named after Lady Mabel Annesley. Within you will find the National Arboretum, home to a range of shrubs and trees.

Directions
Access via Castlewellan Forest Park. From Main Street in Castlewellan, turn onto Castle Avenue. Continue North and you will reach the gates of the Forest Park. Annesley Gardens and Arboretum are found East of the car park.

Work may take place within the gardens from time to time, which may result in diversions being in place, or temporary closure.

The nearest bus stop is Upper Square.
Note that buses take two different routes between Downpatrick and Newcastle; one via Castlewellan (17a), and one via Dundrum (17).

Toilets, including disability toilets, and changing facilities are available on the Forest Park site. The Grange Café and picnic areas are also available on site.
Main Street is 0.5 miles (0.8km) away. Here you will find a range of food and clothing shops, a bank, and a post office, as well as eateries and pubs.
