There is parking available in the Welwick Road Car Park. Ottringham is generally wheelchair accessible; however it is advisable to check with individual venues prior to your visit. There are no public toilets in Ottringham, however there is a restaurant and bar which have toilets.


Brief Description:

Ottringham is a village in the area of Holderness in the East Riding of Yorkshire. During the Second World War the BBC built a radio station in Ottringham, it was the most powerful transmitter in the world and its purpose was to broadcast medium and long wave services and propaganda to Europe. This station closed in 1953 due to lack of funding and available channels. The church of St Wilfrid’s in the village is a Grade I Listed Building. There is also a Methodist Church in the village.

Directions:

From Hull via A1033 (12.2 miles). Head north-east on Dock Street towards Grimston Street. Turn left onto Grimston Street. Turn right onto George Street. Use any lane to turn right onto George Street/A165. Turn right onto Great Union Street/A1165. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Garrison Road/A63. At the roundabout take the 3rd exit onto Hedon Road/A1033. At Northern Gateway take the 2nd exit and stay Hedon Road/A1033. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on Hedon Road/A1033. At Somerden Roundabout take the 2nd exit and stay on Hedon Road/A1033. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Hull Road/A1033. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto A1033 and continue for 6.7 miles. Turn right onto Sunk Island Road.


From Withernsea via B1362 and A1033 (7.4 miles). Head west on Seaside Road towards Bannister Street. At the roundabout take the 2nd exit onto Queen Street South/A1033. At the roundabout take the 1st exit onto Hull Road/B1362 and continue to follow for 2.4 miles. Turn left onto Chantry Lane. Continue onto Winestead Lane. Turn right onto A1033. Turn left onto Sunk Island Road.
